Welcome to RESISTANCE, an online bilingual publication of former and current science high school students based in the Philippines.
RESISTANCE was launched on Jan. 1, 2021 when the need came for some science high school students to press on and to defend press freedom and editorial independence. This comes at a time when the need for recognition of local scientific advances by local scientists and student researchers became more salient as the world continues to plunge in environmental, social, political, and economic depression caused by climate change and the concurrent ravages of the COVID-19 pandemic.
RESISTANCE is the fruition of all the turmoil against campus press repression; paltry recognition for those working under the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics; offensive stereotypes against science high school students; and the lack of effort in making the country ready for scientific progress and industrialization.
At RESISTANCE, we always commit to amplifying the voices of the scientific community for the greater benefit of the marginalized and the oppressed. We are also expected to report news and information quickly, critically, and scientifically under the material context of history; to break stereotypical notions; to resist forces of repression and injustice; and to uplift science and bias to the truth above everything else.
In this divisive world dominated by technology, we want to make our society more livable, just, and equitable for the masses with our critical reportage and our unwavering dedication to both science and truth.
But we will not be complete without you.
Together, we will resist oppression, edify science, and defy the current one article at a time.
We are RESISTANCE.
